001: Minnesota WI.

001: Minnesota, WI.

I have successfully gotten through week one of college! This past weekend my friends and I went to a waterfall and hiking location called Devils Punch Bowl in Menomonie, Wisconsin. One of my best friends Emmylou came to visit from Minneapolis and even though we talk to each other every day it was really awesome to catch up in real life. (I love being such a mom friend and taking pictures of my lil' bb's)

This woods really reminded me of the one from Stranger Things. Only, thankfully, none of us were killed by a monster. There was a bit of a Captain Fantastic and Moonrise Kingdom feel to it to. It was a perfect day to go out and hike and talk about how each of us have been doing.
Although we were not able to Eno down there because there were too many mosquitos to handle! All in all it was a really fun day and I love my friends so much!

Favorite Books of 2015

I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. Keeping up with reading is something that I have always cherished and at the beginning of 2015 I vowed that I would read 55 books and boy did I meet that goal and go beyond. During 2015 I read a total of 87 books, the most books in a year that I have ever read before. Goodreads does a good job of keeping track of how many books I have read. A feature that I really like is the fact that you can look at the Stats of all the books you have read. Apparently in 2015 I read a total of 29,162 pages, a pretty substantial number for just one year! Now without further or due I'll tell you my favorite books of 2015.

If you would like to add me on Goodreads visit my page: Erin Nicole

The Selection Series:
I finally got around to reading these books and yes, they are SO good! I read all 4 of them in 4 days! Such a good series and story line, I would recommend this book to anyone that likes books with royal families and so on.

The Shatter Me Series:
I can ultimately say that this is one of my favorite series of all time. Just when you think that a character is all bad your perception of them changes. All I can say is when you read these book READ THE HALF BOOKS!! They bring so much more to the story and are seriously the deciding factor on how you view that other characters.

Queen of Someday:
This book is a classic love triangle but it is still so good! Sophie is a character you want to love and have the outcome of her future turn out for the best. If you like the CW show Reign then you will love this book.

Walk the Earth a Stranger:
A really good book about a girl who has the ability to sense gold. When her parents die she heads to California during the Gold Rush and this is the story of her journey. There is another book that is very similar called Vengeance Road only there is no magic of sensing gold beneath the ground.

Walk on Earth a Stranger (The Gold Seer Trilogy, #1)

The Second Empress:
This is a book that's historical fiction. Which is something that i normally don't read but it was actually really good. Its the story of a girl that is betrothed to to Napoleon Bonaparte, its the story of her surviving at French Court regardless of Napoleon's sister's attempt to steal her husband away.
The Second Empress: A Novel of Napoleon's Court

The Wrath and the Dawn:
Holy Moly is this book good. I am so excited for the second one to come out in may of 2016. This book is inspired by A Thousand and One Nights. The story of a king that takes a wife everyday and in the morning they are killed off. A really intriguing story line and this book is just so good you don't want to miss it.
The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn, #1)

Red Queen:
An unexpected surprise ending really pulls you through a loop. This book was actually a Goodreads Choice 2015 Winner, if that happens to mean any thing to you. Such a good book I could hardly put it down.
Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)

The Mime Order (The Bone Season #2):
The first book was great and the second book was even better. Once again I'm a sucker for a surprise ending! Once these books pick up more traction everyone is going to be reading them!
The Mime Order (The Bone Season, #2)

Trendy Coats and Jackets

Every time I go past or through a Von Maur I cant help but marvel at the wide selection of beautiful winter coats or light jackets. I have always been jealous of Blair Waldorf and the fact that her collection and assortment of coats and jackets seemed to be never ending. But granted she is a fictional character with a studio that dressed her in an array of fashionable coats. To me, just like shoes,  a coat can really make an outfit. I've always wanted all types of coats from a classic pea coat to a single breasted trench coat. I can't help but picture myself walking around a busy city with new shoes and a classy red jacket, looking so put together and coordinated. A coat should match your outfit should it not?

Although buying all of these articles for outdoor use only could get quite spendy. So I'll leave you with some tips, shop around for these pieces. Just because you find one that is cheap for a certain brand and is seemingly the "most beautiful coat you have ever seen", shop around and look at other places. I try to not get myself too attached to pieces before I: A) try them on (because my arms are so long most of the time nothing fits, I'm 5' 10") and B) its too pricey and I know I will hate myself for it later. Recently I have been finding quality coats at H&M. Granted I have never actually gotten one, because the arms are too short. But if you are of a shorter stature this would be a good place to look.

Don't cheap out on your coat either. Pea coats that are really cheap are usually cheaply made too. They don't fit right because the way they were made is rather loose and ill fitted for practically everyone. If your looking for a coat that will be up to date on the latest fashion trends, don't hesitate to turn to a magazine or dare I say Pinterest for help. InStyle Magazine always has beautiful coats of offer for anytime of year. They also include styles that cost a bit more to ones that are in anyone's price range. Most of the coats I have provided below are from Zara which makes beautiful clothes and when they are on sale, they only get better.
